School Programmes

We welcome school groups from the age of 7 all the way to 16!

Choose from two options to suit your goals for the class:

1. Bouldering climbing experience

OR

2. NICAS (bouldering) Climbing Course

(National Indoor Climbing Award Scheme)

1. Bouldering Climbing experience

‍

The focus is on developing confidence, strength, flexibility, basic technique, coordination and having fun.

The sessions can either be stand-alone or regularly scheduled.

2. NICAS for Bouldering Course (National Indoor Climbing Award Scheme)

‍

Over the course we will cover; 

 Safety inside a bouldering centre.

 A fundamental understanding of how and why, we warm up and cool down for climbing.

 Identification and use of specific climbing manoeuvres.

 Developing an understanding of balance and climbing movement.

 Confidence when completing boulder problems.

 Safe descent in a controlled manner.

 Essential climbing terminology.

 Completion of boulder problems (a minimum of 20 required to pass).

The course includes a workbook for each child where they can log their climbs, make notes and track their progress.

Upon completion of level one, the children can take their books with them, so if they choose to progress with NICAS in either our centre or one of many other centres that run NICAS Wild Climbers in the UK, they can continue from level two.

A NICAS course requires a minimum of 3 hours though we recommend at least 6 hours for the best opportunity to be awarded the level one qualification.

All sessions;

- Include the use of rental shoes.

- Take place inside the bouldering area (without harnesses or rope)

- Can be structured to include additional goals of the schools, to reflect the P.E. curriculum

- Run for an hour.
